Home to the 181st Intelligence Wing
The 181st Intelligence Wing is one of the premier intelligence organizations in the Air National Guard, delivering critical capabilities in support of national defense and global operations. Based at Hulman Field Air National Guard Base in Terre Haute, Indiana, the 181st IW provides timely, mission-ready intelligence while maintaining readiness to respond to both domestic and international contingencies.

With a proud history spanning nearly 60 years as the home of fighter aircraft operations, the Wing has evolved into a modern intelligence-focused organization while preserving its legacy of excellence and service. Today, its Airmen support joint-force missions worldwide through innovation, collaboration, and operational expertise.

The 181st also maintains a strong partnership with the local community and the Terre Haute Regional Airport, reinforcing its role as a trusted and integral part of the Wabash Valley and the state of Indiana.

These include the Indiana National Guard's Field Maintenance Shop #8 and Maple Avenue Armory, the 159th Military Police Battalion and the Marine Corps Reserve units,. Together, these assets support intelligence operations, logistics, training, and readiness efforts while contributing to workforce development, regional stability, and a strong, coordinated defense ecosystem.

Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center in Edinburgh, Indiana serves as a premier training and mobilization center for active duty and reserve forces, featuring specialized facilities and urban training environments.

Grissom Joint Air Reserve Base in Indiana is a U.S. Air Force Reserve installation located near Kokomo, serving as a joint-use military and civilian aviation facility. It is home to the 434th Air Refueling Wing, which operates KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft to provide mid-air refueling support, and also hosts Army and Marine Corps Reserve units.
Muscatatuck Urban Training Center in Butlerville, recognized as the largest fully functional urban training site in the U.S., supports advanced training, including operations involving unmanned systems, strengthening regional capabilities and collaboration.
